TL;DR — The Short Version

1

Overview

DomainWatch ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that helps you track domain name expiry dates. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and your rights.

This extension is developed and maintained by Mubashir Hassan (mubashirhassan.com). By installing and using the Extension, you agree to this policy.

2

Data We Collect

We collect no personal information. The Extension does not collect your name, email, IP address, browsing history, or any personally identifiable information.

The only data stored by the Extension is the list of domain names you manually add — and this data is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local). It never leaves your device.

Specifically, the Extension stores locally:

3

External API Requests

When you look up a domain, the Extension contacts public WHOIS and RDAP servers to retrieve expiry information. These are standard public internet services. The domain name you query is sent to these servers — no other data is transmitted.

Service Purpose Privacy Policy
rdap.verisign.com RDAP for .com / .net domains Verisign Inc.
rdap.nominet.uk RDAP for .uk domains Nominet UK
rdap.org Generic RDAP proxy Public service
pknic.domainwhois.pk WHOIS for .pk domains PKNIC
api.whoisjson.com WHOIS fallback API WhoisJSON
who-dat.as93.net WHOIS fallback API as93.net
data.iana.org RDAP bootstrap registry IANA / ICANN
my.webhostingpk.com Domain registration links (user-initiated) WebHostingPK

These requests are made only when you actively perform a domain lookup. No background data harvesting occurs.

4

Permissions Justification

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

storage — To save your domain watchlist and settings locally on your device.
alarms — To check domain expiry dates periodically and send timely reminders.
notifications — To alert you when a domain is expiring soon or has been released.
sidePanel — To display the extension interface in Chrome's side panel.
tabs — To open WHOIS lookup pages and registration links in new tabs when you click them.
host_permissions (specific domains) — To contact only the listed WHOIS/RDAP servers required for domain lookups. No broad website access is requested.

5

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any data with third parties. There are no advertisers, data brokers, or analytics companies involved.

The only "sharing" that occurs is the domain name being sent to public WHOIS/RDAP servers — which is the standard, expected behavior of any domain lookup tool.

6

Data Retention & Deletion

All data is stored locally in your browser. You can delete all Extension data at any time by:

7

Children's Privacy

This Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

8

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
